NVW Volunteer Spotlight: Kate Puckett

  • April 10, 2019
  • Volunteer Spotlights

Another featured volunteer for National Volunteer Week is Kate Puckett.

Kate Puckett is one of CTN’s volunteers at Rosa Parks. She is a sophomore biology major at the University of San Francisco, which is where she found out about CTN — a member of her sorority posted about the volunteer opportunity on their Facebook group.

Kate has a relatively good understanding of technology and thinks it is important for everyone to become technologically literate in this new age.

Kate’s best memory of her work as a volunteer was last semester “when I began helping one woman every week. I slowly was able to learn about her background and her aspirations and looked forward to seeing her each week. Over the course of the semester, I was able to help her enroll for classes at City College, and seeing her get so excited about it made me realize how important our job as volunteers can be.”

Since Kate wants to eventually have a career in the medical field, learning how to work with different personalities and backgrounds has been very beneficial as a volunteer.

Thank you for your service, Kate!

Skye Downing, CTN's capacity-building program manager, says: “If we train 10 organizations & each serves 50-100 people, our impact is expanded. If we hope to close, or even bridge, the #DigitalDivide, this is a way to go about it.” See our Staff Spotlight: ow.ly/2TMX50JOLTX ... See MoreSee Less
