Federal Communications Commissioner Geoffrey Starks is a strong advocate for digital equity. While in California to learn more about digital equity programs in public housing and community-based organizations serving vulnerable populations, he visited Community Tech Network.
Commissioner Starks is especially eager to promote the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) and enroll as many people as possible in it. He wanted to find out more about CTN and how he might help us get more people signed up.
It was a great opportunity for us to highlight the high-impact collaboration between Hamilton Families and CTN. Our staff shared details about our two organizations and the work we do together to support families in Hamilton Families’ shelter, transitional housing, and stability housing programs. We discussed how COVID-19 impacted Hamilton Families and CTN programs and communities and our shared commitment to supporting each other.
Hamilton Families has worked with CTN for several years because it believes that having access to online resources is critical to the social and economic success of its clients as they move into stable housing.
Commissioner Starks heard about specific client successes, the challenges we have all had with providing training during the pandemic, and how eager CTN, Hamilton Families, and their clients are to continue their training.
Commissioner Starks’ visit shows that he really supports the work of both Hamilton Families and Community Tech Network.
