Encouraging learners to vote online

  • October 2, 2018
  • Austin Partner, General

CTN and other local nonprofits are joining in to support voter registration in Austin.

Austin Free-Net is using registration materials in their computer labs to encourage clients to vote in upcoming elections while fostering digital and information literacy skills. This effort helps clients use the internet to check their registration status and make a plan about when, where, and how they will vote. Registration materials available include a flowchart for the voting process, a short tutorial about how to check a client’s registration, “My plan to vote” postcards for clients to fill out, and a voting info sheet to help clients look up information and fill out the postcard.

The County Clerk’s office supplies postage paid registration applications for clients who need to newly register.

Voter registration is open until October 9.
