2017 Nonprofit Technology Conference (17NTC)

  • March 20, 2017
  • General

On March 23, over 2,000 nonprofit professionals from around the world will amass for the 17NTC at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC for three days of tech-focused events. I’ll be headed East with CTN Program Manager Heather Schmidt. If you’re going to be there too, you might like to know that on the Friday (1:30pm – 3:00pm) I’ll be presenting a session about something that’s relatively new to many nonprofits: digital inclusion. In a session entitled “Connect: Digital Inclusion,” I’ll be exploring the questions, “Digital inclusion…what’s that?” And “How do you know if what you’re doing is considered digital inclusion?”

Overall, there will be more than 100 sessions at 17NTC, addressing a vast range of topics that nonprofits must grasp if they’re to be successful in the digital age. The subject areas that the conference traditionally highlights are IT Management, Fundraising, Leadership, Marketing and Communications, and Program. There is also a vast Exhibit Hall where you can find out about the latest tech tools for nonprofits.

Heather and I are both excited to attend this year’s conference, which is organized by NTEN (the Nonprofit Technology Network). As you may know, CTN is currently hosting NTEN Fellow Samantha Akwei, and there are two other fellows located in the Bay Area who are all part of the same program, funded by Google Fiber. All the fellows from across the country will also be attending the conference.

It will be particularly special for me to return to the conference this year after accepting the Rob Stuart Memorial Award at the 2016 conference. The award recognizes communities that use technology to disrupt the status quo, and I look forward to meeting whomever is being honored this year.

I’m sure that Samantha, Heather, and I will all return with plenty of new information and insights for this blog, so watch out for follow-up posts in April!
